    The Root 100

Reflexion Videography had a pleasure of producing and editing a video for The Root 100 gala at Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C. on the 5th of November, 2011. Some of the most influential young African American leaders were there to accept their awards, network and have a great time. The Root is the leading online source of information from an African American perspective. They cover the news from politics, business and culture to the local announcement of births, weddings and more.

    Aubrey & Alex's Wedding Snippet

    {by Jeff Colley}

Videography is not just a job, it is lots of fun. That is how I would describe the Wedding of Alex and Aubrey. I wasn't just the videographer I felt like an invited guest who was just shooting the event. I first met Alex and Aubrey at a wedding in 2009. When I first met Alex and Aubrey we hit it off right away. Like me, they both love Orioles baseball, playing sports and being dog owners.

Both the ceremony and reception was held at the Howard County Conservancy in Woodstock, MD. This was my first time working at this location. It was a great place to shoot a wedding. The high grass fields, a beautiful garden and an old barn provided me with interesting shots to enhance their wedding video. It was a hot day but we found nice cool places to shoot their video.

A couple of weeks before the wedding, I asked Alex and Aubrey, what they were most excited about for their upcoming wedding. They replied, "Finally becoming Mr and Mrs! We are excited to have all of the people from different parts of our lives in one room to celebrate our marriage." We had loads of fun and by the looks of it so did everyone who came to the wedding.

Take a look at their sneak peek video snippet!

I loved working with the photographer they selected: Lisa Boggs Photography. This was my first time working with Lisa and she is very talented. Here are some photos from her blog:

    2011 Project C Dance Concert

[by Inga Colley] Reflexion Videography had the pleasure of videotaping the "2011 Annual Dance Concert" at the Scott Center (Carroll Community College, Westminster) on the 17th of June. Project C Dance Collective is celebrating 5 years of Artistry, Education & Performance this year! The dance called "Amy Amy Amy," (choreographed by Zelda Simms) opened the concert and just happened to be one of our favorites. Take a look at it.

It was more fun than work for me because I enjoy all forms of dancing. I use to dance in high school and I watch different dance shows on TV these days... This concert was pretty awesome and it looked like everybody had a blast. The director of Project C, Jen Graham, seems to be an amazing artist and a wonderful teacher herself. I was under the impression that everybody adores her and her talent. Great concert indeed!

    Folaremi & Temilade's Wedding Snippet

We had the honor of videotaping Folaremi & Temilade's beautiful Nigerian wedding over memorial day weekend. Nigerian weddings are so much fun as the colors and the pageantry are just amazing! Remi and Tem looked stunning and all of their guests had a GREAT time! Here is a sneak peak of some shots that Nick and Jeff took from the wedding. More samples are coming soon.

    Luciana & Stephen's Snippet

Another beautiful day, at the historic Evergreen Museum & Library. This was the setting for Luciana & Stephen's ceremony and reception on Memorial Day weekend. Nick and Andy had a great time videotaping all the special moments throughout the day. The band kept the guests on their feet all night long, giving us and Natalie & Jamie from Borrowed Blue Photography many fun shots. Take a look at their snippet.

Luciana and Stephen couldn't be a nicer couple. We wish them a lifetime of laughs and great moments.

    Christina & Matthew's Wedding Snippet

One of my favorite moments of filming weddings is the Pre-Ceremony coverage. You really get to feel all the anticipation and excitement of the bride and bridesmaids before the wedding. My day started at Christina's home and you could feel the excitement in the air! Take a look at a short snippet from Christina & Matt's wedding day.

    Royal Wedding Video Coverage

    [by Inga Colley]

Royal Wedding coverage on TV and the Importance of Video

As I reflect on the coverage of Britain's Royal Wedding last Friday (4/29/11), I want to thank all the members of the TV crews who worked in London on that special day. They did such an amazing job by covering every inch and every second of the event.

It had to be the biggest media affair in the history of TV! Around 8,500 journalists (6,500 of whom were officially accredited by Buckingham Palace), 140 broadcast trucks with satellite uplinks, more than 36 studios housed in the three-story structure in Green Park, about 200 broadcast cameras were set up along the procession route and 40 cameras inside Westminster Abbey (every network was sharing the same camera feeds). It was broadcasted to 180 countries around the World. Pretty impressive!

I recorded the Royal Wedding on three different channels and watched hours of coverage. I didn't miss a single thing and I feel like I was in London on Friday. How many of you watched the ceremony more than once? And how many of you think you saw more then the people on the streets of London? I was absolutely amazed by the shots from different angles in Westminster Abbey and the music inside of it. I was so excited to see everything and it even wasn't my own wedding...

I think this is the best example of why it is important to have a great video for your wedding. :)

    Orioles Magazine

{by Jeffrey Colley} Growing up as child, I was always a huge Baltimore Orioles Fan and in 1998 I became a part time employee of the Orioles Production Crew. I started out as an intern, cameraman and worked my way up to the Director, Technical Director & editor for the Oriole Scoreboards. Over the past off-season, the Orioles have upgraded the entire ballpark entertainment system, including High Definition video. This past issue of the Baltimore Orioles Magazine features our Production Crew and the new equipment.

    orioles-magazine-low-res

Inside "Central Control" by Monica Barlow, the entire 18 person crew that control all the sound, video and entertainment during all home Oriole games are highlighted. The Oriole's video control room oversees all the entertainment throughout the ballpark including features like: Crab Shuffle, Hot Dog Race, Kiss Cam, 7th Inning Stretch, etc. In the top picture below, I can be seen in the Directors seat, calling all the camera shots for the main scoreboards. We have a total of 3 in-house camera operators and I'm also able to see a total of 8 other camera angle from MASN TV. Its a nice peek into the "organized chaos" (as I like to call it) that is video production.
